When I say "we" I don't mean just Jon and his team of coaches and mentors, I mean every one of you out there in JBF-land :)
Once Jon's very simple yet powerful and effective teachings are understood, it's (almost) our duty to inform all those we know and love.
Not just for their health, but for the world economy (and ultimately our own, so yes there is a part of selfish interest in this).
True, we cannot give Jon's books away - however, we CAN and should give away the links to purchase them though - and we cannot force anyone to get on the healthy and fit wagon against their will. What we can, and IMO should, do is to lead by example.
That doesn't always work! Really? Yes, really.
I remember dropping 15 pounds a few years ago (after having gained back some of the weight I'd "lost" previously) and getting my ex to drop 33 pounds at the same time - using EODD. His family was in awe over our fast and visible results and all without exception wanted to know how we did it ... one even said "let's look at their plates and put the same on ours" at one of the dinners at his house.
Questions were typically:
- what pills do you take?
- how many hours of cardio do you do?
Our answer was always:
- none
- 9 minutes 5 days a week right after 7 minutes of resistance training plus some walks with the dogs
And you know what? The family did not believe us! They claimed they "couldn't do it and still have a social life" (yet we were eating out 1-2/week, had BBQ parties on weekends and family dinners once a week ... ), and we kept hearing "oh well, we only live once so might as well enjoy it" (yes, I agree: for as long as possible by being healthy!).
We had the same questions week after week at family dinners, until they stopped asking, persuaded we were holding out on them I suppose. Yet it was (and is) true:
EODD does not require any pills (RFLB does if you want to call amino acids and CLA pills; but we weren't doing that at that time).
7MM/7MB only has 9' of cardio/day 5 days/week - and a recommendation for additional walks.
And it works.
Our job, so to speak, is to inform people that endless cardio and starvation+fatburning pills are not the answer!
Is that an easy job? Heck no (see above), but ... most worth-while things are not easy. If you have obese (or even "just" overweight) family members or friends, start by (gently) checking on their mental readiness for information - don't just bombard them with what we all here know to be true :)
Just as you cannot force a smoker to quit, you can't force an overweight person to get healthy.
Remember, they may also believe in the genes-fallacy, starvation-level calories diets as well as hours upon hours of cardio and endless crunches for a "flat stomach".
Let's head out and see how many we can convert :) remember, even if we each only manage to reach 2 people, as long as they reach 2 each, these 4 reach 2 more each ... it'll take time but we can make a difference!

Looks like the makers of statins will have to lay a new type of golden egg :)

And just for fun - one bumper sticker I saw Friday morning:
"Support Search & Rescue - GET LOST!" Lol. A polite way to tell people off, right?
Comment by JBF Coach Sarah on September 13, 2011 at 1:15pm 2 quotes from Bill Philips on FaceBook ...
and
Nice ideas to keep on a piece of paper in your wallet. Or as a note on your phone. Or somewhere.
Comment by JBF Coach Sarah on September 13, 2011 at 10:13am And .... drumroll .... I am connected again!! Finally the cable guy came and fixed TV, Internet and phone! 2 weeks of running back and forth to friends to get on the net, 2 weeks of watching Eldorado over and over (not a torture - it's a fun movie) as well as a few other DVDs; and only having the cell phone to call people ... I feel as though I'm back among the living =D
It's sad though, how dependent we've become of these electronic things. Sad and a little scary. Missing a couple of our favourite channels though - Discovery and BBCC (BBC Canada, we really enjoy watching Top Gear) but it's ok for now.
And now that that's taken care of ... the gym is - down a flight of stairs (7 steps), down the drive way, right onto one street, one block down to a main street where I again turn right; 3 blocks up I have to cross that street (the scary part, it's a 2x2 lane fast road), and push the door to the3 gym.
The walk over there will serve as warm-up cardio, and cool down after the GXP post 7MM :)

Comment by JBF Coach Sarah on September 10, 2011 at 12:39pm What's that saying, Tom, about not being an apostle in your own home town?
I find it easier to get the message through to "strangers" than to closer friends and even more so family.
Stumbling blocks ... don't fear them, just make sure you don't fall (oh that's right, you keep falling, don't you, haha ... oops, sorry) and if you DO fall, don't take it lying down: pick yourself up and get back on track.
Comment by JBF Mentor Tom Mortensen on August 30, 2011 at 1:34pm This is so true! I recognize the scepticism you refer to, even from close family and friends. They just cannot or will not believe it. Some of them have a weight problem, they may have tried to overcome several times, without much success. So they refuse to take in, that you have actually succeeded.
And another thing is, they are afraid and worried. What is your agenda? Why this drastic change, and what witch craft have you employed to bring about this change?
So there are many stumbling blocks and stones in the road, but I feel like you, that whenever people are willing to listen to me, I gladly share my experiences and the tools I have use.
So thumbs up for becoming missionaries, and spread the word!
