Nwe to EODD and have come to stand still

Hi I am new to EODD since 10/27/11 I have lost 15 pds so far but have come to a standstill To be honest I don't no if all the weight I have lost was due to EODD for, For 3 months now I have been working on cleaning up my diet- all organic, lots of water, super foods although i stir away from raw as i am having some teeth problems. I do Bikrams yoga every other day which burns about 1000 calories.  I feel like I have a hard time getting in the rhythm of the meals >4 questions  1. Can I have applesauce instead of apples? as it is easier for me to eat, sometimes I put low fat high protien yogurt with it. Is this also ok? and Did I mention I am a vegetarian also I get most of my protien from tempeh, amys 20 gram burgers some organic cottage cheese (not so often) I use hemp Protien and spirulina for smoothies  2.   i also have organic coffee with a little honey and coconut milk and can I drink coconut water as some of my water intake? 3. Can I Substsitute a Healthy fruit and nut bar or one half of a pemmican bar for nuts as this is also easier for me to eat. 4. I also eat a lot of steamed broccolli with nutrional yeast on it Is this OK? thank you

Juat remembered an e-mail I got from Nick Nilsson the other day:

Hey, just a quick note about those great "raw food" protein bars I sent an email about last night. I had mentioned that they currently have a "buy one box, get one box free" sale going until Nov 30th.

I just wanted to clarify that the free box (or boxes if you order two) of the same flavor will be sent automatically in addition to what you ordered - it won't show up in the shopping cart at checkout. So if you don't see the free box(es) showing up, that's why!

Just put in your order and you'll be good to go - the free bars will be coming, too. It's like getting them for half price :).

I also wanted to give you a list of flavors that these come in - I've tried most of them now and haven't found a single one I didn't like:

- Vanilla Cashew
- Blueberry Macadamia
- Strawberry Banana
- Raspberry Hazelnut
- Pineapple Tahini
- Chocolate Almond Coconut
- Chocolate Cherry
- Chocolate Chia Maca
- Goji and Greens
- Low Carb Cafe Mocha (Organic ground coffee and raw chocolate with combo of almond/cashew butter and chia seeds. Only 12g carbs, 8g fiber, and 3g sugar per bar)

And I have to say, one of the coolest things about these bars is that they're not made in some big factory...they're all hand-made using top-quality "real food" ingredients...Coconut Nectar for sweetener, Coconut Oil for texture and added health benefits, Goji Berries and Chia Seeds (powerful superfoods), Raw Cacao for it’s antioxidants, in addition to the pea, hemp and brown rice proteins.

The only thing to watch out for is because it has ZERO preservatives, the shelf life is a lot shorter than regular protein bars (6 to 8 weeks).

With how good these things taste, I don't think you'll have to worry about them staying uneaten that long anyway, though ;).

Click here to grab your free box(es) of bars with your order...

Nick

If he says these bars are good, they're good. Along with Jon, Nick is one of those people I just trust without asking :)

Looked up the Pemmican bars - I would stay away except for a feed day.  They can't really take the place of the nut serving because they have about 60 grams of carbs (from the honey, milk, corn, barley, rasins, etc) whereas your nut serving will only have about 5 grams or less of carbs.

THe coconut water is fine - has about 9 g carbs though.  I would limit it to one 8 oz serving a day, and it is best to consume it withing 45 mins post-workout as it gives great nutrients for muscle rebuilding.

I echo Sarah on the pre-packaged nut bars, be very careful as they typically have a lot of honey or agave or such to act as a binder.  I don't really know what's easier than throwing 12 almonds in a ziploc baggie for the nut serving though.

Also watch that applesauce, the processed kind at the store has the fiber & pectin from the peel totally removed and has been heated to extremely high temperatures to package it which kills all the natural food enzymes that are present in a whole raw apple.  I would say only do the applesauce if you make your own (just apples, maybe some cinnamon, and leave the peels on) and even then I would limit it to a couple times a week, not everyday.

You could have applesauce IF:

you are sure it's all natural and no additives

you make it yourself and are even more sure :)

Don't worry toooo much about the low-fat part as far as yogurt, watch sugar content; but yes, some yogurt once in a while is fine - I might keep it for feed days though.

Your protein sources seem fine; add some quinoa if you haven't already. It's a fabulous grain and can be used in anything from breakfast to salads, side dishes and desserts!

Try cutting the honey in your coffee. I know, it's tough to get off sweetened coffee, it took me ... a week :) I did Jon's RFLB program and had the choice between unsweetened coffee or unsweetened tea, both with cream (half-and-half). I was ok with the tea, so I opted for that, but missed the taste of the coffee. Dilemma ... the first few days I threw out half the coffee cup, but fradually I managed to drink the whole cup, and now I can't drink sweetened coffee at all :)

Not sure about coconut water vs water-water, I'll have to check on that, unless Meredith has an answer for you?

As far as broccoli w/yeast, go for it!

The nut/fruit bars ... be really careful of the ingredients! Most of them are just disguised candy bars. You could look into making your own, by mixing nuts and a few dried fruit in a blender to make a paste, add some cooked quinoa, roll in organic, unsweetened cocoa, and presto!

Also, make sure you have at least one feed day every 4-5 days minimum, your body needs the extra calories.
