Anyone up for sharing their goals for the next two months?  I find that if I write them down, and report on how I am doing, then I am much more accountable to myself.  I see we have quite a few new members, would be great to hear from you what your personal goals are. My goal is to not give to temptation that surrounds us during the holidays.  I'd like to keep my weigh the same but get back to more resistance training that I have neglected over the past month.  Also, I am going to stick…See More

Sorry for my absence... fun news

I have been away for the past 6 days taking my son to the North American Nationals Irish Dance Championships.  I am a proud momma - he placed 2nd in all of N. America for his age group!  It was a fantastic experience - now to catch up with all the questions here....

AZ RNR this weekend

Headed out of chilly wet Seattle to AZ this weekend for the Rock & Roll 1/2 Marathon - glad to get some sunshine and warmth.  Not sure how my time will be, lots of stress in my personal life the past 2 weeks so we'll see.  I know I have logged plenty of miles so I will get through feeling fine but not overly confident in my speed to set a PR.  We'll just have to see how the day goes!

Excuse my absence the past couple of days....

I took my son down to CA to compete in the Western Regional Irish Dance Championships. Absolutely thrilling trip with over 1700 kids competeing over the 3 day event. He ended up winning First PLace in his age group and is now the Western Region Irish Dance Champion for the Boys U9. Needless to say, I am a very proud mom!

Unfortunately though with all the travelling, practicing, etc. over the past few weeks with him, I have let my eating habits slip drastically. Starting fresh today… Continue

funny quote I found

Don't know if the source is true but I like the message:

"One-quarter of what you eat keeps you alive. The other three-quarters keeps your doctor alive." - Hieroglyph found in an ancient Egyptian tomb.

More Fast Food Ranting

Yikes, my hubbie stopped by McD's with the boys a couple days ago as they needed a quick bite to eat between baseball games (not my favorite choice for them, but at least they each just had a burger and apple juice with no pop or fries) The were waiting for their food and looking at the ads for the new Frappe - made out to sound healthier than a milkshake. Well, hubbie thinks that looks good on a warm spring afternoon, so THANKFULLY he picked up the nutrition fact sheet before buying one. WOW!… Continue

It's all because of Jon Benson and to all your support. Thank you. My goal starting next month is to gain a few pounds of muscle. I really like the eodd and 7mm.

I haven't even read the info on RFLB yet. I started the EODD, doing 2 days of burn followed by 1 feed day. I'm only on day 5. The hardest thing to NOT indulge in is wine in the evenings! =) Otherwise the plan is pretty easy to stick to. My husband enjoys lean dinners & veggies & salads so evening meals are fine. I'm most surprised I don't have carbo cravings. ~Julie

okay - I admit the first burn day was rediculous! Okay this is what I did the next day: rice milk/blackberry smoothie, handful of almonds, orange, turkey and cheese roll up, orange, 3 hazelnuts, 5 pecans, ground turkey and a salad, orange - lots of water throughout the day. I decided my vegetarian days are going to have to take a back seat to loosing some weight. no apples - I bit into a bad one and grossed out ;)

Thanks for the encouragement Meredith. I was very inspired seeing your pics. I really need to dive in and read all the material so I can better grasp exactly how EODD works along with the RFLB. I noticed you specifically refer to one week of EODD and then post RFLB. I was thinking of easing myself by doing a week of EODD to recondition my system and then diving right into RFLB - is this what you did? Because whatever you did worked so great - so fast. Now granted I think you are much smaller than I am from the get go. I weigh 145 and am 5'6". I am a runner as well - I am a vegetarian and have never gotten the knack of being thin as one. Hopefully this program will help.

Valatie is about 20 minutes south of Albany, NY. We have been here about 11 years. I grew up in OH and my husband is from CO. He was in the Marine Corps and we got stationed here on recruiting duty when my daughter was in 3rd grade. At that point she had been in 3 schools in 3 states and I really liked this area and said enough is enough we needed to stay put until she finished school. She is now in her second year of college in Rochester. We just put our house on the market and are looking to move to Louisiana when it/if it sells! Tough market out there right now.
This is a beautiful area, but we have never lived near family. My niece lives in LA and my sister plans to move there from OH too! I've had enough of the cold weather and I am so looking forward to moving south and being able to be outdoors with my training year round!
The half distance is definitely more desirable. Unlike you, I'm not a big fan of running! What a goal to have of doing all 50 states if your not crazy about running. My dad had a stroke 9 years ago. 5 years ago I hooked up with an organization called Train to End Stroke. They take people that never ran or walked before and train the for 6 months to run a marathon. In return we did fund raising for stroke research. I'm sure you have seen many of the charities on the course while out there running. After my first marathon they asked me to become a mentor to help train others. It was such a positive experience for me that I kept with it. Unfortunately about 18 months they did away with the program.
I've met some of the best people ever through running. I was never althletic before. Pacing on the sidelines of my daughters soccer games was about the most exercise I ever got! She was 14 when I started running and I wanted to prove to her at that very impressionable age that you can do anything that you put your mind to. She is my best supporter now! She travels with me when she can and has runa few halfs too.

Hi Meredith,
I am new to the site and didn't realize I could leave a message here, that is why I sent the friend request. I am also into distance running, I am trying to run a marathon in every state before I'm 50. (I'm 42 and have 11 down, # 12 will be on New Year's Day) Look's like the EODD is doing wonderful for you. I'm hoping for the same results! I'd love to chat and see what your workout/eating schedules are like to see if they might work for me the same. I look forward to hearing from you.

Meredith,

It's Saturday morning, and the first chance I've had to look through the materials I just purchased. I have lots to read and absorb.

I'll take a look at your detox idea. It would jumpstart the lose of a few pounds, and maybe clean my pallet. I'm more intrigued, though, by your comment about carrots tasting like "candy." Raw carrots, I hope, because I don't like cooked carrots. The point is that I've cut out the sugar before, and I know I can do it again. I'm certain of it. What I'm less sure of is what to put its place.

My problem isn't as much about what I don't eat as it is about what I do. I was telling my friend Susan that I don't just need to cut out sugar, I need to also cut out salt and cut down on sodium. The same with fat and fried foods.

If that kind of eating is "normal" for me - even to the point of craving those foods. What do I eat instead that would help to overcome those cravings? I'm hoping that something in Jon Benson's eating plan will help me to answer that question.

Are you trying to lose weight, maintain or simply eat eat healthy? I'm hoping to learn to eat healthy, which I believe will take care of the issues I struggle with daily. Healthy eating, though, is such an anathema to me. And, it will be my biggest challenge.

Enjoy your weekend.
