"actually this confirms the discussion on scales... BMI basically just talks about weight, not body composition.  It says that skinny fat is bad and skinny skinny is even worse :). I don't think anyone wants here wants to be "normal…"

pullups, chin ups

Pull ups are one of the best exercises and I used to do a lot of chin ups when I was young.  My pr is 19 when I was maybe 18.  One of my yearly goals is to get stronger and one measurement I have is the number of pull ups I can do.  I was able to do 11 not so clean chin ups last fall.. I want to be able to do more.. cleanly.

My strategy now is to do a set of chin ups at least once a day and increase the number weekly or more often if I feel like I'm getting stronger quicker.  Now I…

progress so far with mad scientist muscle program

Part of my plans for my birthday were

1) be stronger than last year 

- 10 chin ups

- bench press my own weight

 

2) be leaner than I was a year ago.

 

Progress so far:

 

- my chin ups have not progressed very well but I am getting stronger so I'm hoping to be able to do 10 of them - yesterday I did 5, 3, 1 sets of very good form chin ups and they weren't too hard so I have hope

I used to weigh myself every day but I found that I get too disappointed on the days I have gained weight even though I know it is not fat. Then it is easy for me to give up and eat the wrong things instead of eating better and I end up in a downward spiral. It's strange but when I only weigh myself on Mondays it's easier not to give up even if I have gained weight. I "forget" the result, and give it a new try the next day or so. Somehow it makes it easier for me to stay on the program. Maybe because I have a new try if it looks like I have failed.
But thanks for the tip anyway. :)

I don't know what is different in your profile but it looks very nice - very professional but in good taste. I liked the layout, the graphics (colors, etc.) I'm not a professional in this kind of stuff but maybe that's why it is good to get the average guy's point of view.

I especially liked the picture slide show. It gave a nice glimpse of you and your world.
