Hi all, I'm new here.
Well I haven't really tired working out in the past. I just felt the need for it when 3 days ago, my boyfriend told me that he thinks, i have to work on my diet and lose weight because my body doensn't look like it's in proportion. Too bad to hear for a lady, but i got that comment from him. So, I guess, I have to find ways on how to work on that fast. And make sure he won't notice that I'm working hard on losing weight. I'm not really fat, I am 5'3'' tall (just right for a filipina I guess), right now, i have 34-29-34 for my vital stats. I find my tummy flobby and so with my arms, that from my shoulder down to the elbow, on side views, they look big, yeah, somehow, unproportion to how it should normally look like. I'm thinking if supplements would help me.Or if I should really have to enroll myself in a gym and work out - that's something I'll have troubles with because i work in graveyard shift and sleeps 10-12 hours a day. Not sure which is best to do.
I know you guys can help me. I am excited to here your responses. =P

Good to hear that, but you should focus on losing stubborn body fat and not your body weight. It's a diffrent thing. Regarding supplements. Yes supplemments do help, but it would be better if you set BIG goals. Ask yourself what you really WANT not what your boyfriend wants. What's next after using supplemments? Set a long term goal, a lifestyle habit. Enrolling in a gym is an option, if you're like me who loves to hit weights in the gym then go for it, but you could stay and workout on your own living room using body weight exercise. Regarding workouts, I would suggest full body workouts 3x a week. Focus on compound exercices like bench press, squats and back exercises rather on isolation movements like biceps, triceps, ab workouts, hours and hours of slow boring cardio. If you're working on graveyard shift, you could workout in the afternoon before going to work right? Oh and yeah, always try to stay positive. "Negative self-talk" is a destructive habit. I'm a filipino too myself :p

Permalink Reply by JBF Coach Julia on December 27, 2010 at 7:51am Hi Andrea, Looks Marlon has already hooked you up with some great advice. Working out at home is great. Do you have Jon's 7 Minute Body? He gives at home workouts in there.
10-12 hours is a lot of sleep can you cut that back a little and use the time to exercise?
I think it is important that we get constructive criticism from our loved ones but I hope your boyfriend said it in a kind loving way, which I think is possible.
Permalink Reply by andrea granada on December 27, 2010 at 5:26pm Hi Coach Julia, right! he did. "should focus on losing stubborn body fat and not your body weight......always try to stay positive. "Negative self-talk" is a destructive habit..." and yeah, i have the 7 MM as well, i started scanning through it and i think I'll be working on the 3-flow process to set myself ready and plan what i want to happen. 3x a week work out following the planner for an Ultra Beginner's work out, I think I can do that too. Above all, I have to work on cutting back on my sleep time.
Thank you and I'll be glad to work with everyone here.

If you want to use the RFLB supplements, you should follow the entire program, not just pick out the elements you like. RFLB is pretty radical, maybe you should go for one of the EODD programs, which you can learn more about on this site? Anyway there are many ways to start a fat loss process and tighten up your muscles, the EODD (Every Other Day Diet) and the 7MM (7 Minute Muscle) programs are great resources for a novice like yourself.
Permalink Reply by andrea granada on December 27, 2010 at 5:34pm Hi! I think you're right, maybe i should go with an EODD program and work with 7 MM, I believe I am not fat enough to lose such amount of fat. =P
Thank you Tom.
Try EODD with 7MM first and see how it goes. RFLB also does wonders for the last stubborn pounds - that's how I used it 2 years ago and I have kept under 14% BF since then. It is important I think though to be comfortable with exercising before you start RFLB or the program will be really challenging from the food and the exercise standpoints.
Let us know if you have any questions about the programs and how to fit them to your lifestyle with the graveyard shift.
