Lots of people wondering about what else to sub for almonds. While I would maintain that raw almonds are the healthiest option, here are equivalent measures if you are allregic or terribly bored.

I will use a 150 lb person - who thus consumes 15 almonds for the nut feeding - as the example. Adjust these up or down based on your weight / needs.

Almonds - 15
Brazil Nuts - 4
Cashews - 15
Filberts - 25
Hazelnuts - 25
Macadamia - 8
Peanut Butter, Natural, and other nut butters - 2 TBS
Peanuts, 20 small (May use dry roasted or boiled)
Pecans - 15
Pine Nuts (Pignolia) - 1 ounce
Pistachios - 30
Pumpkin Seeds - 3 TBS (1 oz)
Sesame Seeds - 3 TBS (1 oz)
Soy Nuts - 1/4 cup
Sunflower Seeds - 3 TBS (1 oz)
Walnuts - 15

Can I just confirm... the pecans and walnuts, for example, are 15 halves?
yes
I'm glad to see this as I don't really like almonds that much that I can eat them every day.

Cashews and pistachios are more my thing.

Jeez... I forgot to pack my almonds today so I bought some pumpkin seeds at a shop nearby, cuz they were out of almonds. I always wanted to try them anyway since I saw this thread.

Simply put, this is the worst stuff ever invented by mother nature.

I was supposed to eat 3 TBS... I barely ate one. Terrible, terrible stuff. You start chewing on it, and it's moderately tasty. Then you chew some more and the taste goes away. Then you keep on chewing and you never really feel like you are ready to actually swallow it. So you chew some more. Nothing. So you gulp down some water to help, guess what happens: you feel like throwing up.

Yea. Never again. I wouldn't give this to a starving person cuz it would be sadistic.

Almonds and cashews, ftw.
LOL! You either have to a) season & toast them lightly or b) soak & sprout them. Yeah , they'd be pretty disgusting otherwise.
I've only ever had them baked in muffins or something similar. Wouldn't really dream of eating them just like that.
Oh, it was toasted and seasoned alright. With wayyyy too much salt for my taste. It said on the label that it had salt but I never imagined it would be that bad.

So I gave the whole pack full of the damn seeds to a co-worker. Her response: "Hm! You didn't like these?! They are salty! Yummy."

I'm staring at her absolutely flabbergasted while trying to pick my jaw up from the floor.

Then I go out to a meeting and when I come back... guess what. The pack is almost empty. Everyone loved the damn thing.

Go figure.
Ran out of nuts and wasn't brave enough to go to the supermarket on a Sunday (too many people, especially kids). So had 1TBS of peanut butter with my pears.

Just read this and realised that I could've had 2 tbs. Hmmm.

Haha, it's Sunday, have a second spoon with your apple(s) :)
Is it ok to have baked almonds ? Raw almonds are more expensive and hard to get . The baked almonds are not seasoned or have any oil baked with it .
I'd say go for it. Over here all I can find are raw ones.
Raw is certainly better, but if the baked are all you can find/ afford, then do your best. Or have a different type of nut.
