During our feed day, can you tell me why its important for us to eat carbs at our lunch feed instead of dinner feed?  Having a family, if we had pasta for instance on feed day its not convienent to have it for a noon meal seeing no one is home with work and school so I guess my question is, is it ok to have it for dinner?

Change the pasta night to Saturday lunch, or Sunday lunch, when you are home in the middle of the day. If you are doing this as a family, that's great! If it's just you, let them have the pasta at night if they insist, and keep your portion for the next day's lunch.

I remember my FIL saying that if they were to eat like us, they'd have no social life at all.
The strange thing is, we eat "like that" and do have a social life!

The trick is simply to
1- reduce the alcohol at dinner (I've cut it out, except one glass of red on Saturday night, my husband keeps one glass a night except when he's cutting);
2 - not have the starches with the dinner meal, just the protein and veggies/salad
3 - drink plenty of water before so that you don't feel as hungry, or if you know the meal will be served later than your usual meal time, have some raw veggies before you go out.

And have whatever starch you feel you want on feed-day lunch ;-)
My kids adore pasta and we have it at least once a week with a long cooked red sauce with meat. Now the sauce is fine as I make it with extra lean ground beef . For my portion though I ladel the sauce over a sauteed veggie such as zucchini or eggplant - you can cut (or if you are lucky enough to have a mandoline use this) the zucchini in long thin strips and it will serve as a base for the sauce which is really the great part about pasta in my oppinion.

I typically do not eat the exact same meal as my kids an husband do at dinner. But I try to keep them similar - tacos for the kids, taco salad for me (lettuce, tomatoes, grilled or sauteed peppers, avacado, taco meat, salsa) - if we have chicken or fish etc. I will make a salad, a cooked veggie and I will give them a side of rice or pasta or a roll but I will skip it myself.

You might want to try gradually getting your family to move to whole wheat pastas, brown rice, and whole grain breads for their health too.

"It is, really. What other species even questions what to eat or how much? Where are our instincts? Killed by civilization, or just "in a coma"?"
